In 2003, a new kind of online game entered
the market. Offering a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter
experience, Sony Online Entertainment released PlanetSide upon the world. For
the first time, fans of the FPS could enjoy team work on a grand scale, where
your actions really did matter and the outcome of battle was only determined by
the effectiveness of a solid team. Good teams grew into squads, and good squads
grew into outfits, and one good outfit grew to become Xen of Onslaught.
Originally the brain child of Michael Mercer, aka Dash, Xen of Onslaught (XoO)
has steadily grown into a very functional online gaming community.
Founded souly on the emphasis of adult
gaming, XoO has held a strict age limit for players of only eighteen years or
older throughout its history. This was to avoid the drama which naturally comes
with the implementation of those who lack certain grains of maturity. But XoO
is by no means an elitist clan, at the very core XoO offers a haven for serious
adults who want to enjoy the company of other adult gamers; while at the same
time providing both outlets for hardcore gamers and more relaxed play styles.
For the hardcore gamer, XoO provides a
competitive atmosphere with fair practice hours and a rigorous attention to
detail and team work for games which demand it. But XoO also understands that
this is not for everyone, so they've also generously provided several options
for the enjoyment of their guild members. Voice communication such as Ventrilo
have been used to further both hardcore team coordination, and friendly
conversation with like minded guild mates, and will continue to be primary form
of communication for all team work within the guild.
Governed by a council of responsible adults
and several layers of leadership roles, XoO has managed to do what many guilds
have not. On several occasions XoO has managed to dominate more than just a
simple continent within PlanetSide, with the ever growing number of supporting
players and with the help of other outfits, XoO managed to coordinate the
complete domination of the PS world for a single day. So or only a moment, the
entire PS world was claimed purple by the Vanu Sovereignty.
But PlanetSide has not been the only
interest of XoO, as the guild grew in numbers, so did the interests of those
within the guild. Eventually XoO began to branch out to other games such as
Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Rising Force
Online, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, Battlefield 2142, and so much more all
while still keeping a player base within PlanetSide, though sparse, even to
this day. But whatever game XoO has fully supported, there is no doubt that the
guild made a considerable impact upon that game on more than one occasion.
In 2005, XoO took a foothold within Guild
Wars, officially amending it as the next major section to the Xen of Onslaught
name. The presence of XoO in Guild Wars has had a monumental impact upon the
guild itself, allowing for one of the largest player bases in its history. XoO
has also made themselves considerable opponents, having ranked first place in
total wins on the GvG official ladder after having scored 500 victories in September
2005. After scoring 200 more wins into the newest ladder season in Fall of that
year, ArenaNet recognized Xen of Onslaught as Guild of the Week for final week
of October.

2006
also was a very notable year as XoO maintained a very high ladder rank,
averaging sixteenth place, and then later to the eighth in all of the world –
gathering tremendous popularity. When alliances were added to the game, XoO
then became just one single allied force, allowing it to branch all of its
several sub sections into many separate guilds all brought together under one
banner. Dominating in both PVP and PVE, the guild showed its colors to be
impressively flexible and multifaceted. ArenaNet continued to take note of
this, having honored XoO with Notable Guild status and even hired one of XoO's
top officers. XoO continues to still hold strong in Guild Wars even to this day
with over six hundred members active on a daily basis.
In World of Warcraft, Xen has become a
solid Raiding Guild, enjoying high end content with a friendly atmosphere of
players who continue to support one another and aim to make the often stressing
game of WoW as stress free as possible. With several sections of the game
supported and with impressive leadership, XoO's World of Warcraft community is
exceeding two hundred active members on a daily basis. Other games such as RF
Online, a rather popular Korean title, has also been supported by XoO from the
very beginning.
Just
recently, XoO's RF Division participated in the first ever Emblem Match. With
impressive skill, team work, and practice – XoO dominated with a clean, no loss
victory against a superior leveled rival guild, Vengeance.

)
Xen of Onslaught constantly encourages the
growth of its guild. Beta games are watched with great intent, and even a few
members of the Board of Directors are dedicated to nothing but the monitoring
and development of Beta Games and the possible branches which may rise from
those upcoming titles. Tabula Rasa is quite possibly the next largest venture
for XoO since it is so much like PlanetSide, the very roots of the guild. Since
TR itself holds such a spirit of enjoyment for FPS and MMORPGs mixed all into
one, so too much XoO follow along to once again show the world what it means to
be a fun, mature, and well organized gaming community.
