Description
Thrax troops come in many varieties and are almost always found in groups. Thrax may appear as soldiers, technicians, officers, or lieutenants. Expect to see Caretakers attached to Thrax units for healing and resurrection purposes. In open surroundings, Light Benders may also be present, armed with long-range weaponry.
Hunter Thrax are armed with close-combat weapons and frequently travel with Howlers. Hunters use net guns to hold their victims in place while they move in for the kill. Neutralize Hunters before they close on your position. At pointblank range, Hunters can kill soldiers wearing the strongest armor in mere moments.
Thrax officers, also known as Thrax grenadiers, are a ranged threat, so squads must rely on heavy cover when attacking them. In less contested areas, officer presence is scattered. However, higher concentrations have been reported in places like Valverde Marshes. During those engagements, a mixture of crouching, sandbags, and specialized abilities helped to mitigate casualties. Effective tactics included healing, blinding the enemy, and distracting foes with turrets and other peripheral targets. Tier-three and tier-four veterans are essential for securing victories in such skirmishes, as their advanced Logos abilities are required to prevent the Bane from bringing their full force to bear.
Thrax soldiers are trained for one thing and one thing only: War. Quick, agile and extremely aggressive, they are bio-engineered for optimal battlefield survivability and performance-making them the main offensive weapon of the Bane military machine. Though highly motivated and used in great numbers, the average Thrax Soldier lacks the initiative and intelligence for independent tactical decision-making-relying on lieutenants for direction and coordination. Though often dismissed as "cannon fodder" even by their own leaders, Thrax Soldiers are very effective when used as airborne shock troops-a function at which they excel. Thrax Soldiers can also be found deployed as a low-level security/guard force. The standard weapons suite of the Thrax Soldier includes the Plasma Assault Rifle, the Assault Pistol and Rocket Launcher. |
