Tharsi
Clan Leader of SAINT
"Give me a blaster over a sword and I'll show you a guy
on the ground with a hole in him holding a sword."
I was recently contacted by Tharsi, leader of the SAINT
Clan, who volunteered to be interviewed for our Community Spotlight feature.
After the rules and dangers had been explained to him, I got the chance to sit
down and have a nice chat with him. The following is the conversation that
ensued ...
Jaren: So, lets get started. How would you describe yourself
as a player?
Tharsi: More of a hardcore player in respects to PVP I guess.
Don't get me wrong I like the PVE, its just the excitement of other players
trying to kill you all the time is fun.
Jaren: And who would you say is your favorite game publisher?
Tharsi: At the moment I really don't have a favorite per-say,
I can tell you one thing SOE is not my favorite. But I guess right now it
would have to be NCSoft for publishing TR.
Jaren: Fair enough. What kind of games do you typically find
yourself playing the most?
Tharsi: FPS to start out with, then I made the big jump to
MMO's when SWG was in closed beta. As bad as that game got, in the beginning
it was a lot fun.
Jaren: I don't think many would debate about that. Do you
typically find yourself playing to level, or levelling while you play in MMOs?
Tharsi: I would like to say leveling while I play but there
hasn't been a game out yet that can give me the feel of not grinding. I would
hope newer games that are coming out would change this landscape of MMO's in
general, the genre really needs to change.
Jaren: I couldn't have said it better myself! So, are you
more fond of the Fantasy or Sci-Fi genre?
Tharsi: Sci-fi for the win!! I guess I'm more the kinda guy
that looks to the future than the past. I always say give me a blaster over a
sword and I'll show you a guy with a hole in him holding a sword, hahaha!
Jaren: Yes, Sci-Fi for the win, indeed. Being a Sci-Fi game,
what kind of class do you think you will play in Tabula Rasa?
Tharsi: Probably a Grenadier at first then a Spy for my 2nd
character. I like getting in the middle of things mixing it up with the bad
guys, but I do like to go unnoticed some times as well, hehe. I'm always in
your face I guess, ready to put the hurt on the bane.
Jaren: Grenadier, huh? Boom, baby! Cookies or muffins?
Tharsi: Cookies! I think they go better with milk.
Jaren: I'd have to agree with you there -- Cookies win.
Speaking of flavors, do you find yourself more drawn to Tabula Rasa because of
it's Sci-Fi setting?
Tharsi: Yea. I like to peww peww and zap zap things, haha. I
guess I've had a fascination with the genera since I was a kid when I went to
see Star Wars A New Hope for the first time and I've been hooked ever since.
And yes that was the original theatrical showing in 1977, damn I'm old lol.
Jaren: Wow! That was quite a long time ago. I wonder if they
had commercials before they played it ... Speaking of which, how do you feel
about in-game advertisements?
Tharsi: Well I look at this way, if it doesn't break my game
play I could care less. If it doesn't belong in the spirit of the game and
doesn't make any sense for it being there, then, yea, I'm not for it. I mean,
from a development stand point, monthly subscriptions, with the help of adds,
can give me a better play experience and help to pay for the extra content.
I'm good with it, just don't break the game with ads that don't make any sense
being in the game. I wouldn't want to see a Coke add in WoW you know, but it
could be presented in a way that is non intrusive. Like you're in TR and your
at a outpost that's always in human control, you see a Coke venting machine, I
would believe that you know. It's a touchy topic ...
Jaren: Yes, it is a touchy subject.Onto another less-touchy
subject ... Crafting. If you had to do a McGuyver, and craft an item on the
fly, what would it be?
Tharsi: I guess it would be explosives, mwahaha!! If your in
a jam, a good bomb can always help even the playing field.
Jaren: Wonderful! Just what we need -- More plastique phreaks
on the field. Thank you for the interview, Tharsi, but our time is nearly up.
Anything that you would like to add, or someone you'd like to give a shout-out
to?
Tharsi: I would just like the express thanks to the Stratics
team for the interview, you have been great and your support for TR has been
undying. Great job guys, I'm hoping that after the game is released we all can
kill some Bane together.
Jaren: Thank you for your time, Tharsi.
And that is all we wrote! Check back next
week for another of our Community Spotlight interviews! Also, please remember to
control the pirate population and have them spayed or neutered.
This is Jaren Quintaine, signing out!
