Shotguns are the simplest type of area-of-effect weaponry. Additional training in Firearms allows troops to knock back enemies with the force of each blast, giving them more room and making it harder for melee enemies to close the gap. Because of their high utility, only troops certified in more advanced area-of-effect weaponry, such as rocket launchers, grenade launchers, and propellant guns, should consider forsaking the shotgun.
Though completely ineffective at medium and long range, shotguns devastate single and clustered targets within 20 meters. Note that beading is not an issue for shotguns. For this reason, shotguns deliver more damage when firing on the run than pistols, rifles, or many other basic sidearms. However, each shotgun blast consumes three ammo
